Lisp is almost 50!
If you happen to visit Tennessee, USA by October the 20th then you may be interested in joining the 50th birthday of Lisp at OOPSLA.
There'll be lots of interesting people there, including:
- John McCarthy the one to blame for the whole thing! ;-)
- Richard Gabriel and Guy Steele. Guy Steele is the one to be blamed for Java, Scheme and different revisions of the Jargon File.
- William Clinger editor of the Revised(5) Report on the Algorithming Language Scheme, and for the powerful Scheme hygienic macro system.
- Rich Hickey, responsible of the Clojure dialect of Lisp for the Java Virtual Machine.
And interesting birthday party, indeed.
A real pity I'm not visiting OOPSLA this year :-(
Happy Lisp-ing, Antonio
