An earthshaking announcement
As you may know Donald Knuth was expected to make an Special Announcment on June 30, as a final session in the TeX User Group conference 2010
A little research shows that Don was kidding. There was no such announcement, but it was indeed earth-shaking:
- It was Slashdotted
- Lots of entries in Twitter
- YCombinator questions
- A Closed question in stackoverflow
I think this shows his great sense of humour. He got lots of attention to the 32th Tex User Group meeting, and I think this is a great achievement.
Talking about his sense of humour, I like this quote of his:
